Since founding DESCON in 2009, our mission has been straightforward: deliver world-class infrastructure consultancy from within the region, for the region. We did not start with international backing or inherited contracts. We built our reputation project by project, client by client, in some of the most operationally complex environments on earth.
Today, DESCON Group stands as East Africa's emerging indigenous infrastructure consultancy — with six operational offices, over fifty professionals, and a track record spanning roads, airports, ports, schools, health facilities, and water systems. Our client roster includes the United Nations, the World Bank, USAID, the African Development Bank, and the Federal Government of Somalia.
Our ambition is clear: grow from our Somali base into a USD 10–30 million regional corporate operating across Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, South Sudan, and Tanzania. Our Story
From Local Firm to Regional Leader
2009
DESCON Architecture & Engineering Consultants Ltd. founded in Mogadishu by a team of Somali engineers committed to rebuilding national infrastructure capacity.
2012–2015
Rapid expansion across Somalia with offices established in Puntland (Garowe) and Somaliland (Hargeisa). First major international donor contracts with UNOPS and UNICEF.
2016–2019
Secured pre-qualification with African Development Bank. Delivered feasibility studies for 300+ schools and 50+ health facilities. Aviation mandate with Somali Civil Aviation Authority.
2020–2022
Marine & offshore engineering division launched. Expanded into geoscience and environmental safeguards. DESCON LABS established as independent subsidiary with 130+ instruments.
2023–Present
Restructured as DESCON Group with six subsidiaries. Revenue exceeds USD 5M. Regional presence established across Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, South Sudan, and Tanzania through active operations, JVs, and consortium partnerships. Target: USD 10–30M regional corporate by 2028.
